Maxim Integrated Products' MAX8729 is a fully integrated controller optimized to drive multiple cold-cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) used in LCD monitor and TV applications. Using a topology that the company touts as unique, the controller works in a resonant mode during striking and switches over to a fixed-frequency mode after the lamps are lit to ensure reliable striking and operation under all conditions while reducing electrical stress on the transformer.

Bomar Interconnect Products Inc. has added a SMB interconnect to its proprietary Eliminator coaxial series, that also includes a family of F-style connectors. These Eliminator interfaces are designed to eliminate the need for extra cable assemblies and PC-board connectors traditionally required to mate box-type, or modular integrated components to boards. Users only have to connect the Eliminator connector directly to an electronic device and drop it onto the PC-board.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has expanded its TSAL series of infrared (IR) emitters with the introduction of its new TSAL6100X01, an emitter certified under the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standard for Smoke Detectors for Fire-Protective Signaling Systems, or UL 268.
