Dublin - Bernard Collins, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland, said on Thursday that the country is in danger of losing its attractiveness as a location for U.S. investment.

TABY, Sweden --- Micronic Laser Systems AB, a vendor of pattern generation equipment for photomask making, has withdrawn its 2002 sales revenue forecast and plans to sack 10% of its employees.

Styrelsen för Micronic Laser har beslutat att dra tillbaka prognosen för 2002. Den tidigare prognosen låg i linje med förra årets omsättning (699 MSEK). Nettoomsättningen för perioden januari till september 2002 uppgick till 314 MSEK. Företaget har också vidtagit åtgärder för att minska sina kostnader.

Ericsson is this week re-entering the market for DSLAMs with an innovative Ethernet access card that it says will unlock the mass market for DSL services by dramatically changing the economics of rolling out broadband DSL.

During the Semicon Japan trade show here today, Sweden's Micronic Laser Systems AB launched its next-generation, laser-based pattern generator tool that promises to lower the cost of photomasks by 30% or more.
