MOSFET chip set boosts supplies by 15%

Renesas Technology says its RJK0305DPB/RJK0301DPB high-side/low-side chip set achieves an efficiency of 90 percent, the highest in the industry, for small DC/DC converters (20 amps at 1.3 volts from a 12-volt input). In such applications, this increase in efficiency corresponds to an increase in output current of about 15 percent as compared to converters built with the company's previous generation MOSFETs.

And it has ramped up the areal densities on its 5400 and 4200 drives to 120-Gbytes from 100-Gbytes. – Komponentkostnaden för en mobiltelefon låg på cirka 70 dollar, oberoende av var vi producerade. Men i Kina kunde vi få mobilen tillverkad, monterad, testad och förpackad för ytterligare 2 USD. Till det kommer administration etc, med ytterligare cirka 10 dollar. I Kumla, Storbritannien, Frankrike och USA kostade produktion och administration 80 dollar. Det gick inte att konkurrera kostnadsmässigt med kineserna.
