Power semiconductor maker Siliconix Inc., a subsidiary of Vishay Intertechnology Inc., made a net profit of $10.0 million on sales revenue of $97.8 million. Sales were slightly down from the $98.3 million recorded in the fourth quarter of 2002 but up 17 percent compared with the $83.6 million recorded in the same quarter a year before.

Optical components group Bookham Technology plc said its target of breaking even by the end of this year looks increasingly difficult to achieve "with current market conditions" as it reported revenues in the first quarter ended March 30th 2003 were £21.0 million ($33.0 million), up 47% on the fourth quarter 2002, and up 275% from the first quarter 2002 at £5.6 million.
