Im April wurden nach Zahlen von Carnegie Research weltweit mit Halbleitern 21,2 Milliarden Dollar umgesetzt. Der über drei Monate gemittelte gleitende Durchschnitt lag damit etwa auf der gleichen Höhe wie im März. Im Vergleich zum Vorjahr stieg der Umsatz um 4 Prozent. Damit hat sich das Wachstum verlangsamt: Im März betrug der Vergleichswert noch 7.3 Prozent.

Alvarion Ltd. (Tel Aviv, Israel) has been selected by Balticum TV to deploy a 802.16e BreezeMAX network in the three Baltic States; Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Phase one is already in progress and is providing primary broadband services to Lithuanian business and residential users. Alvarion is collaborating with its partner DAN Communications in this deployment.

The three-month moving average of worldwide chip sales was $21.2 billion in April, about the same ($21.15 billion) as in March, according to Bruce Diesen, analyst with Carnegie Research. The unadjusted chip sales for April should be up 4 percent year-on-year, slower than the 7.3 percent jump recorded in March, Diesen said.
