Asia chip sales up sequentially in April, but total revenues fall 5.8%, says SIA

SAN JOSE -- Worldwide chip sale dropped 5.8% to $13.72 billion in April from $14.56 billion in March, but revenues increased sequentially in the Asia Pacific region for the first time since the third quarter of 2000, said the Semiconductor Industry Association here today.

TABY, SWEDEN -- Micronic Laser Systems AB here and the Etec Systems Inc. subsidiary of Applied Materials Inc. today announced a settlement to a patent infringement suit pending in the U.S. District Court of Northern California.
