International Rectifier Corp. didn't immediately respond to the $1.6 billion acquisition offer it received from Vishay Intertechnology Inc. Friday (Aug. 15.) It didn't need to. Investors pre-empted a response from IR's management by immediately boosting the power semiconductor company's share price as high as $23 or more than 8 percent above Vishay's offer price of $21.22 a share.
