RF semiconductor supplier Microtune Inc. posted a net loss of $0.6 million, or 1 cent per share, on sales of $13.5 million in the second quarter, compared to a net loss of $2.0 million, or 4 cents per share on sales of $12.2 million the previous quarter.

Fabless semiconductor supplier Conexant Systems Inc. posted a GAAP loss of $32.2 million, or 7 cents per share, on sales of $197.5 million in its third fiscal 2005 quarter ended July 1, compared to $73.2 million, or 16 cents per share on sales of $169.7 million in the previous quarter.

The XR16L580 single-channel UART is now being offered in a 24-pin QFN—the industry's smallest form factor, according to Exar. It has a footprint of only 4-mm X 4-mm and a height of 0.9-mm compared with 5-mm X 5-mm X 0.9-mm of the 28-pin and 32-pin QFN devices.
