Toshiba to promote MeP core with tool vendors, design houses

Toshiba intends to offer the MeP processor core as IP in hopes of making it a de facto standard embedded processor for multimedia applications. Toshiba's attempt to promote its Media embedded Processor (MeP) as an embedded core will include 12 partners from the ranks of tool venders, design houses and IP providers such as Red Hat, CoWare, Celoxica, and Synopsis.

Intel Corp. unveiled three new embedded processors June 2. The three new embedded products include the Celeron M and the PXA270. The company said the Celeron M will be aimed at wireless and wireline infrastructure, while the PXA270 will serve in graphics-rich applications such as personal media players and navigation devices.

Intersil today announced the release of three new high-speed and low-power precision digital-to-analog converters (DACs), the 10-bit ISL5757, the 12-bit ISL5857 and the 14-bit ISL5957. Operating at frequencies as high as 260 million samples per second (Msps), these new converters offer the highest precision, single-supply operation and the industry's lowest power consumption for conversion of high-speed digital data to high-accuracy analog.
