The new M2B series of process sealed miniature pushbutton switches from NKK Switches employs several design features to lock out contaminants. These include an interior o-ring surrounding the actuator within the bushing, ultrasonic welding of the bushing and housing unit, and epoxy-sealed terminals. In addition, the single unit construction of the bushing and top of the housing provides added protection from cleaning fluids or other liquids.

Raychem Circuit Protection, a business unit of Tyco Electronics, has launched a new family of fast-acting surface-mount fuses for consumer electronic devices including laptop computers, multimedia devices, and cell phones. These fast-acting fuses help provide overcurrent protection on systems using DC power sources of up to 125 Vac.

Optima EPS, an Elma Company, has launched a new range of 19-in. and 24-in. width equipment cabinets that use welded aluminum construction to provide lower-weight NEBS compliance for seismic regions. The company says the heavy-duty aluminum extrusions are combined with a seven-gauge steel base to provide a rugged floor-mounting design that resists shock, bending and vibration stresses.

Only 69 percent of electronic industry contract manufacturers expect to be fully compliant with global environmental legislation taking effect July 2006 prescribed by the European Union's (EU's) Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) legislation, according a study by Technology Forecasters Inc. (TFI) and Avnet Electronics Marketing, an operating group of distributor Avnet Inc. (Phoenix).

Tyco International Ltd. (Pembroke, Bermuda) reported net income of $454 million, or 22 cents per share, on sales of $10.4 billion in its fourth 2004 fiscal quarter ended September, compared to a net loss of $297 million, or 15 cents per share on sales of $9.5 billion in the year-ago quarter.
