CORNING, N.Y.--Corning Inc. here today announced plans to invest $150 million to expand production of fiber-optic devices in Italy. The investment will upgrade a facility recently acquired from Pirelli & Co.

SAN FRANCISCO - The exponential growth of the photonics market has caused that industry to do a "lousy" job of managing its supply chain, the chief executive officer of Corning Inc. said here Monday.
