3-axis accelerometer shrinks by 77 percent Product News 6/11/2007 Post a comment Freescale Semiconductor says it has introduced the industry's thinnest 3-axis accelerometer for motion-based user interfaces. The MMA7450L is housed in a small 3 x 5 x 0.8-mm LGA package for portable devices.
Coupled inductors for power supplies: advantages and compromises Design How-To 6/10/2007 Post a comment The higher integration of chips requires more power to operate a chip. The transistors work at higher frequencies and have push more dynamic load on the power supply. The output voltage can be decreased to avoid overheating the silicon, but the lower operating voltage tightens the voltage-regulation requirements. Here's what you can do to optimize your design using inductor for switching converters, and a solution that uses coupled inductors.
Seismic accelerometer offers low noise, light weight Product News 6/8/2007 Post a comment Endevco says it has introduced the industry's lowest noise compact seismic accelerometer that is 70 percent lighter than traditional IEPE accelerometers. The model 87 is designed specifically for measuring ultra-low-level seismic events and low-frequency vibration on structures and objects.
