This is amazing - a transporter in Russia that carries a huge barge a few miles from one river to another.
My old chum Jay Dowling has done it again – he's managed to find a website so interesting that you could lose yourself for hours.
The site in question is called English Russia. This is a sort of "magazine" site in English that presents stories of interesting things that are happening in Russia (Art, Science, Technology, Sports, History, Politics, Culture, etc.). As they say on their site: "Something cool happens daily on one sixth of the Earth's surface!" and you can't argue with that :-)
In particular, Jay pointed me at a story on a Monster Barge Transporter. The photos accompanying the story (actually, the photos ARE the story accompanied by a little text) are mind-boggling. A huge barge sails into the transporter, which then carries it up a hill, across a bridge, down the other side, and dumps the barge into another river. You have to see it to believe it!
After that, it's well worth the time to take a wander around the rest of the site. This is one I'll be visiting again...
