If you happen to be planning a trip to Stockholm in Sweden, I happen to know the perfect place to stay.
Do you recall our old friend Sven Andersson, the veteran ASIC designer from Sweden who wrote that brilliant series of articles: "How to design an FPGA from scratch"? (See Programmable Logic DesignLine article #201802966.)
Well, Sven lives in Stockholm, which has been the political and economic center of Sweden since the 13th century. In addition to being the site of the Swedish government ant the official residence of the Swedish monarch, King Carl XVI Gustaf, Stockholm is said to be one of the most beautiful national capitals in the world.
I've been to Stockholm on several occasions. Quite apart from anything else, the Swedes are just great folks to visit with (although you have to be careful if they start to play "drinking games" with you, as I know to my cost). But we digress. Sven just sent me an email saying:
Hi Max, how are things with you? You have to have some other activities than ASIC and FPGA design, so I have started a Bed and Breakfast together with my wife Elisabeth. You must come to stay with us when next you visit Stockholm. Regards, Sven.
Sven also sent me a link to the website for his Bed-and-Breakfast (www.4trappor.se/en), which looks to be a very warm and friendly place (not surprisingly if it's anything like Sven and his wife Elisabeth). Now, personally, when I travel somewhere, I always find it much more fun if there's someone I know living there, so I can't wait to visit Sven in Sweden.
But this may not happen for a while depending on what work projects come walking through my office door. So, in the meantime, if you happen to be planning a visit to Stockholm and you were wondering where to stay ... look no further. Give Sven or Elisabeth a call (contact details are on their website) and tell them that I sent you.
