I was just meandering around a rather interesting website called The End is Nigh! Rather than my trying to describe this myself, I'll let them explain in their own words:
Ever since man had language with which to speak, he has been plagued by the doomsayer, the predictor, the one who claims to know. And they have all said the same thing: "The End is Nigh..."
So who do you turn to if you want a guide through this cacophony of cataclysm, this wealth of world-ending wisdom?
Well, welcome to the official magazine for the apocalypse: the chronicle of end times, the anthology of armageddons, the depository of doom, the collection of catastrophe, the encyclopedia of eschatology...
Good grief, they write just like me! In reality, these folks have put a humongous amount of work into the magazine. I just downloaded issue #2, which comprises 100 pages, consumes a hefty 24 megabytes, and is jam-packed with some really interesting and well-presented content. As they say:
Each issue of The End is Nigh examines the latest predictions, the facts, the figures, the myths, and the magic of the end of the world. From Biblical tales of the final battle at Armageddon, to modern fears of asteroid strike, lethal plague, or nuclear holocaust, The End is Nigh is your guide through the Final Days... Each issue carries its own theme and features news, comic strips, newspaper-style strips, spoof articles, advice, in-depth features, and thought-provoking articles...
You can download issue #2 for Free, issue #3 can be purchased for 7.5 UK Pounds, and (according to the site) issue #4 is on the way.
SFX: "About as professional a job as a fanzine can get. Wonderful!"
Comics International: "Very slick and terrific value for money"
