A friend just sent me a link to a video on YouTube called Misinformed Australian. This is an absolute hoot!
It starts off with an Australian news report about a dead whale found near where an oil company had been performing seismic testing. It then moves to an "interview" with an Australian politician.
In reality, the "interviewer" and the "politician" are both Australian comedians, but they play their roles so well you can understand why some folks don't realize that this is a spoof.
And as a spoof, it's one of the funniest things I've seen recently. For example, when the reporter asks "What is seismic testing?" The politician (who is obviously under the influence of the oil company) replies: "It's an environmentally-friendly and deeply sensitive way of firing an enormous sonic impulse into the ocean floor to see what's down there."
And the line: "I'm not a botanist," is an absolute classic!
I can't do it justice here; you have to watch it for yourself. Suffice it to say that I'm still chuckling as I pen these words...
