The strength, intensity and brilliance of this light sculpture continually change with the prevailing weather and atmospheric conditions unique to Iceland.
I guess I must be out of touch, because I just now heard about the Imagine Peace Tower, which is an outdoor work of art conceived by Yoko Ono in memory of John Lennon. Located on Viðey Island, which is just outside Iceland's Reykjavik Harbour, the "tower" is built from light. The strength, intensity and brilliance of the light continually changes with the prevailing weather and atmospheric conditions unique to Iceland.
Apparently the tower was first lit on October 9th 2007, which would have been Lennon's 67th birthday. The plan is for the tower to be lit every year from October 9th (John's Birthday) until December 8th (the day of his death).
The photos of the tower are gorgeous. I very much hope to get to see it in person one day.
