Xilinx is among the finalists for the EE Times ACE Awards' Design Team of the Year honor.
The company was nominated for the work of its platform engineering team, which created last year the Spartan-6 and Virtex-6. It was the first time Xilinx had simultaneously introduced new versions of both its flagship product families at the same time.
Recall that it was with the release of these products that Xilinx took the wraps of its "targeted design platform" strategy.
According to Xilinx, the global, cross-functional platform engineering team in less than 24 months took an integrated approach to all aspects of programmable platform design, beginning with a common fabric architecture for both device families and exploiting the benefits of Moore's Law with up to 12 layers of metal interconnect and 2.5 billion transistors.
Other finalists for Design Team of the Year include Advanced Micro Devices, MIPS Technologies, IDT and Intel.
The Design Team of the Year award and all ACE Awards will be presented on April 27 during ESC Silicon Valley in San Jose, Calif.
