I always feel that if someone is offering free food and alcohol, it would be churlish of me to refuse :-)

The annual Baconfest happened in Chicago this past weekend and the Tribune's Redeye commuter tabloid published this, for those who could not attend: http://www.redeyechicago.com/entertainment/restaurants-bars/ct-red-make-your-own-baconfest-20130419,0,3696215.story Hopefully this will help those who cannot attend this year's DesignWest ... or for anybody afterward :) Bon appetit!

Max, Why are you torturing us poor working engineers with stories of free bacon and beer - After the fact? Programmable Logic DesignLine didn't come until today (4/25/2013). Anyway sounded like you had way to much fun. Someday, I will convince management that sending an engineer (me!) to Design West or Embedded System Design conference will be beneficial. If only.......

David Patterson, known for his pioneering research that led to RAID, clusters and more, is part of a team at UC Berkeley that recently made its RISC-V processor architecture an open source hardware offering. We talk with Patterson and one of his colleagues behind the effort about the opportunities they see, what new kinds of designs they hope to enable and what it means for today’s commercial processor giants such as Intel, ARM and Imagination Technologies.
