IC Design Management systems are needed to reduce the time it takes to find, track and fix
development bugs; increase design team collaboration; improve designer efficiency; raise
product quality, and improve IP reuse.
IC Manage just completed a blind survey of 416 IC design professionals in March which looked at trends impacting global IC design management.
"Design work done 'around-the-clock' by global design teams requires instant access to up-to-date design content," said Dennis Harmon, IC Manage's VP of business development.
The online responses were from design team members ranging from: digital and full customer designers, verification engineers, CAD managers and engineering management.
IC Manage claims design management systems are becoming part of the mainstream design process, with the majority of design organizations (53 percent) indicating they already have Design Management
systems deployed (41 percent) or intend to implement a Design Management system in 2009 (12 percent).
Overall, a 29 percent growth in Design Management system deployment is seen in the coming
It's a good metric verification of ICs is a hot topic and needs more attention.
