Well, maybe not. But the cheapest gas is always a good deal if you don't spend too much time or miles getting there.
Thanks to the folk at AAA, you can go to the Fuel Price Finder on their homepage and locate the lowest prices in your neighborhood or along your prospective vacation route. The listings are as up-to-date and valid as possible because they are automatically based on the last credit card transaction posted at the station--thus they can't be spoofed by a station owner--or the shenanigans of his competitor across the street.
One drawback (to my engineer's way of thinking): The map locates stations within a three-, five-, or 10-mile sided square centered on your zip code as opposed to a more "natural" radius from a given location. Other features include calculating the fuel cost for a trip, average fuel cost per state, and maps to find your targeted station.
