All of you relative "children"! A couple of months back I embarked upon my eighth deacde.  As a certified old f*rt, I can ask this question of Max: WHY are you still carrying (much less actually using) a CHECKBOOK?  My wife does because she flat-out refuses to even have an ATM card, and in fact prefers going to the bank to chat with the teller and cash a check.  I write checks only for tradesmen or craftpersons who don't take plastic, or those who charge a fee for credit cards.  Everything else is done by BillPay/EFT or credit card.

Regarding "wallet-sitting": I do have certain pants (mostly jeans) that have back pockets placed exactly wrong so when seated (especially driving) to gave me a literal pain in the butt!  At my age, and having disposed of 75+ excess pounds a few years ago, there isn't adeqaute "natuural padding" to ensure comfort in that SITuation.  I do enjoy playing with age numbers; for example, I will in advance congratulate all of you Heinz-agers on your entrance to the "PRIME of life" in 2 more years.

@kfield: I just have to put a huge plug in here for...

Not that I want another wallet (since I already have the best one in the whole wide world), but I just bounced over to their website at BigSkinny.net to see what was going on.

You have to admire their enthusiasm, plus the way they use every possible "hook" like "Our nylon flat wallets are completely vegan and vegetarian too!" and "Sitting on our small, thin, light wallets will prevent irritation to your sciatic nerve."

So if I evver get an urge to sit on a wallet, I certainly know where to go LOL

I just have to put a huge plug in here for the best wallet --ever!! It's called the "Big Skinny" and I love its small size The only downside is that my bills now get crumpled (like a guy's does when he shoves them in his pocket) but there is no turning back for me now!

For a couple of decades I carried around a handy little plastic card from Technical Design Labs, Inc with an ASCII chart on one side and the S-100 bus pinout on the other.  Very handy for establishing geek credentials :-)

I carry around a credit card size magnifying glass with built in flashlight. Great fro ageing eyes and dim restaurant lighting.

Doesn't have the same cachet as the ASCII/S100 card, but it hasn't hurt my geek credentials.

@Colin: This year I am taking my third shot at being 19.

Well, that fits, because I'm well into my third childhood :-)

The scary thing is that in just 3 years we'll be hitting the "big 60" -- of course you'll be happy because that's about as far from being a prime number as you can get -- it's the first number that's divisible by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6 -- plus it's divisible by 10, 12, 15, 20, & 30 -- the ancient Babalonians used a base-60 numbering system.

So, what interesting nuggets of trivia will we be able to associate with our 60th birthdays?

@MWagner: My wife has been bugging me to get a new one as mine is a bit "dog eared"...

Point her at Saddleback and tell her she should get you one as a present -- they have smaller ones (and bigger ones) than the trifold one I got ... but I am a "happy camper" with mine.
