I love this -- and it's not bad at $69 for three months (so $23 a month) -- again, something parents could do with kids until the kids became proficient enough to do it on their own.

Science Service (now the Society for Science and the Public) had a similar program from 1940 to at least the 1960s called "Things of Science."
