It immediately struck me as looking like a dog walking on its hind legs.

Interested in how it walked with rather bent knees, like a rather elderly man unsure of his balance...

I was waiting for the robot to grab the hockey stick and start whacking the guy.

@Rcurl: How long do you think it will be before there's a lawsuit filed against Google on behalf of "Humanoid Americans" for violence against them?

Rick -- did you read my earlier blog Alex + Ada; A future that may be closer than you think?

@Antedeluvian: "I guess using a hockey stick for acts of violence is apt."

Since lawsuits were recently filed on behalf of animals kept in captivity it only seems to be a logical progression.

@antedeluvian: This is not your father's pinball machine.

My father would have been totally amazed to see something like this

@Rcurl: I was amazed to see one of Boston Dynamics' early robots, called "Big Dog" several years ago...

Me too -- to be honest I hadn't even realized that they were working on humanoid ones -- I would LOVE to see one of these close up -- from the video they are far more advanced than I currently expected.

The "scene" where the robot gets pushed over gives a whole new meaning to the word "tilt". This is not your father's pinball machine.

I guess using a hockey stick for acts of violence is apt.

I was amazed to see one of Boston Dynamics' early robots, called "Big Dog" several years ago.  It was really loud when it was moving, and didn't have any autonomous capbabilities. Now it seems unimpressive compared to the unbelievable robot in that video.

It'll be interesting to see where they go from here.
