@David: so let me get this right...

      Go for it

...not only do they rip us off here...

Truth to tell, they are still pretty cheap in AU$

...they sell to you thousands of miles away for less than us...

Well, I don;t have a problem with that LOL

...AND they send them to you for free!

      Nah -- I just looked -- there was a $7.50 post charge
(which is still pretty amazingly low)

I think they are a fine bunch of Bruces and Sheilas

@Max... "I'm amazed they can make something like this so cheaply."

The reason is that "they" are Chinese :-)  Sweatshops don't just produce clothes!

@mhrackin: The quality may be much better now...

When they arive, I'll perform a few tests using known voltages and resistances to se how closely they corrolate with each other and with higher-end units.

David Patterson, known for his pioneering research that led to RAID, clusters and more, is part of a team at UC Berkeley that recently made its RISC-V processor architecture an open source hardware offering. We talk with Patterson and one of his colleagues behind the effort about the opportunities they see, what new kinds of designs they hope to enable and what it means for today’s commercial processor giants such as Intel, ARM and Imagination Technologies.
