Max the Magnificent?? (Clue: ancient TV - he wants to make a diorama in one.) I've no idea what the scary looking guy is though...

You mean that's not Max? :) Hard to tell, but that might be a unicycle in the upper right corner. Who is the unicyclist? "My off-road (mountain) unicycle just arrived!" No doubt it's Max's desk. It's typical for creative people to seek inspiration in objects, and surround themselves to seek motivation (sadly all I have are stacks of papers). If you look at the offices of film or print animators, model makers, graphic artists, etc you will always find unusual "inspirational" items on or around their desks. And if it's not Max, he has some very serious competition...

I haven't plugged it in -- I keep on thinking how cool it would be to drive it with a VCR playing old Black-and-White "I Love Lucie" programs in the background...

And what is the orange thing under the TV? A pumpkin? A basketball with a frog on it? The guy climbing out of the manhole might be a C.H.U.D.

It's made out of clay -- it looks like a lizard baby crawling out of an egg

The CHUD is definately the coolest thing here. I also like the floor lamp. Don't see too many of those these days.

I made it out of cardboard with my son for Halloween (apart from the head and hands -- we got the sweater from Good Will)... ...it looks awesome in the middle of the cul-de-sac when it's dark on Halloween

Very well done. I think you have a second vocation there should you ever decide to stop writing. "Max the Magnificent CHUD Maker"

Since it is an office, I don;t tend to have kids coming in...

That's Max alright, because he did a column about making the "guy in the manhole" gag. It's actually too easy.

FYI This column was a complete surprise to me -- maybe I'll take a video of the office and post it on YouTube and embed it in a blog and walk you all round to see some of the cool stuff...
