There is no shortage of engineers in U.S., just age discrimination against engineers over 50, a reader writes.
Age discrimination, not shortage
Ask Intel how many engineers over 50 they have hired in the last two years
There is no shortage [of engineers] in the U.S. The head of the Black Engineers Union recently commented that salaries have NOT risen. If there is a shortage (gas), why have salaries not risen (fill your car lately?).
What these companies want is an unlimited supply of $40,000 per year PhDs. Ask someone who just got a PhD in EE or physics or comp science if they want to work for $40,000 per year.
With my PhD in physics and being over 50, I have been age discriminated for the last two years.
I am not alone. Write about this.
