From Mark Shapiro
Here are two quesitons for your panel on wireless sensor networks (see ESC: Panel to debate wireless sensor networks).
You probably have these questions on your agenda but just in case.
What is the impact of a standard such as ZigBee RF4CE on industrial wireless sensor networks as well as home/consumer networks? Will ZigBee RF4CE speed adoption of this new technology?
What is the future of energy scavenging and/or energy harvesting for wireless sensor networks. Is a better answer the adoption of ultra-low power wireless like ZigBee Green Power which relies on inexpensive long lived batteries (ten years or more) as compared to expensive energy harvesting technologies? Is a low-tech approach more effective? Reduce the power required by the WSN so that it can operate on a single battery for the life of the system.
In other words is energy harvesting over-hyped?
