EE Times' latest virtual conference covers the topic of motor control with an all-star cast.
On Thursday April 15, experts from the motor industry including Dan Jones (president of Incremotion), PJ Piper (president and CEO of QM Power), Dal Ohm (founder of Drivetech Inc), Curt Wilson (VP of engineering and research for Delta Tau Data Systems), Chuck Lewin (founder and VP of engineering at Performance Motion Devices), and Tim Wescott (owner Wescott Design Services) will participate in a series of panel discussions as part of the EE Times Motor Control Virtual Conference. The motor experts will square off with counterparts from the IC and software industry to discuss avenues to maximize motor efficiency, select the best control circuitry, and optimize software development.
The conference entitled "Motor control: Intelligent control maximizes performance, Minimizes power/cost" will kickoff with an 11:00 AM EDT keynote and continue with a series of panel discussions, chats, and the opportunity to visit virtual booths. The panel discussions will feature the aforementioned motor industry experts, and the topics include:
- Maximizing efficiency while minimizing power
- MCU, DSC, and ASSP options for motor control
- Optimizing your motor control through software.
It will be a rare opportunity to get a chance to hear from the roster of experts from both the motor and IC industries. Make sure you register at www.eetimes.com/motor. The free conference will run 11:00 Am to 5:00 PM EDT.
The panelists from the motor industries have varied and broad backgrounds in motor technology, drive circuits, and software control techniques. Dan Jones is the president of Incremotion Associates and has more than 45 years experience in the design of precision servo and step motors. He has written more than 150 technical articles and held seminars in 10 countries. He is the past president of AIME and a past member of the Board of Directors of SMMA.
Dal Ohm is the founder and Chief Technical Consultant at Drivetech Inc " a company that specializes in the analysis, design, and development of customized AC/DC motor drives. He regularly speaks at industry conferences and is a faculty member of SMMA Motor and Motion College.
Curt Wilson is Vice President of Engineering and Research for Delta Tau Data Systems in Chatsworth, California. He has twenty-five years of experience in the industrial motion control field, first at Hewlett-Packard, then at Delta Tau. He is a lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of California Los Angeles.
Tim Wescott has more than twenty years of engineering experience in circuit design, embedded software design, and closing control loops in software. Tim is the author of the book "Applied Control Theory for Embedded Systems", a practical guide to designing and implementing control loops in software. He also authored one of the most popular articles in the history of the embedded.com web site " " PID without a PhD."
Finally, PJ Piper is the president and CEO of QM Power. The company is pursuing a new technology called Parallel Path Magnetic Technology that it hopes will yield more efficient motors and generators.
Attend the virtual conference, and our experts will help you maximize the efficiency of your next motor project.
