The Embedded Systems Conference has always been one of my favorites because it is still pitched towards engineers.
Product and technology hype is inevitable no matter where you go but at ESC the credibility level is still pretty good because the audience is so well informed.
I am also happy that RFID World is co-locating with ESC this year. I'm interested to see what the assembled group of RFID companies has to offer. In the past, it was difficult to make time to see both ESC and RFID World.
Oddly enough, RFID got a little shot of publicity this week when the Associated Press ran a story about embedding RFID chips in mice raised their risk of cancer. That was followed by a virtual tsunami of counter opinions and citations of scientific studies that discovered the exact opposite.
Not exactly the best possible publicity but there is a view that any publicity is good publicity as long as it gets people talking.
