The SA Forum and PICMG released an HPI-to-AdvancedTCA Mapping Spec that details how the SA Forum’s Hardware Platform Interface (HPI) maps to PICMG’s AdvancedTCA spec. The benefit is for a standard method to implement both specifications, saving time, money and resources.
The HPI to ATCA spec highlights ATCA Shelf Management functionality and data in a standard, vendor-independent manner. Open standards eliminate the need to develop proprietary solutions or to custom map between specs. Instead, companies can focus on their unique value-add, reduce time-to-market and reduce lifecycle costs.
The Mountain View Alliance is a consortia of standards organizations devoted to creating a coordinated approach to specs including this one. Members in addition to the SA Forum and PICMG include Networking Processing Forum and the RapidIO Trade Association.
