Are you coming to ESC? If so, plan on attending the Engineering Humanity Panel on Thursday, April 6 from 10-11 am.
This morning, one of the latest letters to the editor of EE Times, Letter: Engineering is about more than quarterly growth, offered one engineer's view of the dilemma. Ashish Shah, an engineering manager from Wilmington, MA said, "I believe that as shareholders in the U.S. economy we are all to blame for wanting high growth and return on our investments. If one was to ask--can you achieve a longer-term goal without the relentless drive for quarterly profits--my personal belief is yes."
Having spent some time rattling around in the financial industry, I don't believe that the relentless bottom-line focus is likely to change. If anything, it continues to grow worse.
Moderated by EE Times Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Brian Fuller, the panel will discuss technical education in America, the dilemmas and potential solutions. An important topic--see you there.
