According to a report by Lux Research, titled Nanotechnology: A Research Strategy for Addressing Risk, nanotechnology will have a huge impact on the global economy, but may also be risky. Report: Nanotechnology risks need addressing.
Citing a need to understand its environmental health and safety, an exploration into those risks is proposed. How will that impact network systems design? According to an article published on this site a few months ago, Nanotechnology reduces cost of FTTH, authors Dr. Hubert Kostal, Alan Graham, Dr. Jian Jim Wang of NanoOpto Corporation looked at the possibilities of nano-optics for optical circuit design. Cited particularly are its advantages of lower cost and increased value.
So the report recommends leadership and funding be undertaken by federal agencies. Do you think this is a good idea, or one that will hamstring the effort?
