I received a market study that looked at which handsets were most popular for accessing mobile content.
I love getting these market studies. This time, the study looked at which handsets were most popular for accessing mobile content. The study was done in December 2005 by M:Metrics. Interestingly, the top four all hailed from Motorolathe i730, V551, V3 RAZR, and V220. Other vendors that cracked the Top 10 were LG, Samsung, Sanyo, and Nokia.
The reasons given for the popularity of these models are the easy-to-use interface, a large and bright display, and high-quality audio.
Similarly, of the top selling handsets overall in the US, three come from Motorola, the RAZR (number one), the V551 (three) and the V180 (five). Second on the list is the Nokia 6010, while the LG VX6100 ranked fourth. This data comes from NPD Group, in a study done last October.
With a 30% market share in the third quarter of 2005, Motorola accounted for twice as many sales as LG or Nokia.
