Qualcomm and TechFaith Wireless Communication Technology (based in China) have just joined forces and founded a new company that will focus on the development of application software for wireless devices. The new company, called TechFaith Software (TechSoft for short), will be based in China. TechFaith is currently one of QUalcomm's independent handset design house partners.
TechFaith is one of the larger handset application software providers China. The technologies currently in its portfolio include GSM/GPRS, CDMA2000/EV-DO, WCDMA (UMTS)/HSDPA and TD-SCDMA.
TechSoft will operate as an independent entity and will initially focusing on 3G CDMA mobile handsets. They'll be charged with developing the handsets' upper-layer software, as well as solutions for smartphones based on the Linux and Windows Mobile operating systems.
The collaboration with Qualcomm will enable platforms that include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and high-resolution cameras.
