Will John Lennon's wife Yoko Ono be forced to wear a RFID tag while making an appearance at CES in January 2008?
Probably not, however, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) will track Consumer Electronics Show (CES) attendees using opt-in RFID tags, embedded in their cards. Dan Cole, CEA vice president of business development, says the tags do not contain personal information, only a number (and, of course, the name printed on the tag).
Although, 2008 becomes the first year CES will rely on RFID in badges, the real news for me came when Cole revealed Yoko Ono will make an appearance at CES. The trade show will host a John Lennon song writing contest. The magic bus that began traveling around the country to promote the event plans to make a stop at the show.
