Robert W. Baird Analyst Reik Read said P&G has terminated its RFIDdisplay tagging project with Wal-Mart, citing a memo to P&Gs contract manufacturers.
Contract manufactures that were applying tags to P&G displays were asked to immediately stop tagging and return readers and associated equipment back to P&G.
While P&G appeared to get good insight from the data, associated process changes were difficult to implement. As a result, P&G deemed the value as low and elected to reduce expenses. Other customers are following, Read said.
