Of the several articles posted during the last week to CommsDesign, two take a point - counterpoint stance on onload v. offload processing. But, the debate between the two companies doesn't stop there!
I love a good fight! Last week, I posted an article by QLogic: Achieve higher InfiniBand performance with on-load processing that states there is debate within the InfiniBand community as to whether HCAs should use on-load or off-load protocol processing. Once the article posted, Mellanox took issue with the numbers used in the QLogic article and says they are inconsistent with those that Mellanox publishes. Both companies, however, agree on the performance numbers for QLogic.
Today, Mellanox delivered its counterpoint to the QLogic article in its own contribution: Lessons learned: Network-based processing versus host-based processing. So, read both and let's get a good (respectful) debate going! What do you say?
