Did you see my reviews of the books uC/OS-III The Real-Time Kernel by Jean Labrosse (Click Here to see that review) and uC/TCP-IP by Christian Légaré (Click Here to see that review)? Well, I just heard how you can get free copies of both these works…
So here’s the deal… on Thursday December 2, 2010, STMicroelectronics and EE Times are presenting a Virtual Conference – Robust Ecosystem = Embedded Success – from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time (an archived version of the conference will also be available in On-Demand format for six months). Click Here for more details and to register.
In this Virtual Conference, experts on microcontroller hardware, embedded tools, operating software, and applications development—drawn from working design teams as well as vendor engineering groups—will challenge your thinking as you navigate the path from just picking an MCU to entering an ecosystem.
But the really cool thing is that when you go to the ST Virtual Conference and sign in, you will be given a Virtual Briefcase to put everything in that they want to collect from all of the booths. Inside this briefcase will already be a PDF of the STMicroelectronics version of the uC/OS-III: The Real Time Kernel book.
But wait, there’s more, because if you then go to the Micrium booth and click on the Literature Rack (you may have to shrink the Chat dialog to see this rack), you will be presented with a bunch of categories. One of these is a “Giveaway”. This involves you taking a sort survey, in return for which you will receive a PDF of the STMicroelectronics version of the uC/TCP-IP book.
This is pretty cool – if you were to actually purchase hard copies of these books (Click Here to see them on the Micrium website) you’d be paying $89.95 each, so getting these PDFs for free is close to a $180 value! And don’t forget that you can also purchase the µC/Eval-STM32F107 Evaluation Board – which supports the hands-on experiments and examples in both books – from the Micrium site for only $49.95 (Click Here to see this board).
I tell you – this is the best deal going – I look forward to seeing you at the Virtual Conference!
@Max the Magnificent: at the recent ARM Tech conference in the Silicon Valley, they gave away these books along with a cool back pack! But I would love to get the PDF versions, so I will visit the webinar archive...

Apparently there was a bug in the distribution system -- but the folks at Micrium say that they are emailing out PDF copies of the book to everyone who took (or will take, in the case of the On-Demand version of the conference) the survey -- regards -- Max
Don't worry -- I'll alert the folks in charge -- this must have been a small glitch -- no one else (that I'm aware of) has mentioned any problems). Can you email me at max@CliveMaxfield.com with your real name and email address and we'll sort this out for you -- Max
I was only able to get the uC/OS-III book, which I already had in hard cover anyway, but not the uTCP/IP book which dearly would have loved. Did the survey, browsed the contents but the TCP/IP book was not added to the virtual briefcase.
Join our online Radio Show on Friday 11th July starting at 2:00pm Eastern, when EETimes editor of all things fun and interesting, Max Maxfield, and embedded systems expert, Jack Ganssle, will debate as to just what is, and is not, and embedded system.
