I love seeing Woz so relaxed and happy! He is a good human being while the other Steve, well let's be kind and merely note his otherness. Certainly Visicalc is the core reason for Apple's early success but the question is this meeting in a small way and this article is presumably about CAD and EDA. So when will you talk about is the core early companies that educated the Cadence key technical players and one in particular that provided the first, best for many years and least well known CAD iCorp out of Berkeley, CA. Million point integrated display and then a twenty inch diagonal 16 million point display in ONE desktop machine with storage, and a GUI began life one year earlier then Apple and was shipping product when Apple was formed. These professional system with 48 inch plotters were driven at first by a single Motorola 6800 operating in 64 kbytes. iCorp later used a switching trick to bring multiple ROM packs so that effectively the function space was extendable to an entire megabyte! This system was followed by a writable control store bit slice machine that did huge graphics spaces and its designers later ended up at Commodore and elsewhere building color graphic PC's. These designs were used to build small ICs, and large to very large pc boards right up through 1990. But wait that's not all! iCorp invented a touch pad very similar to that presently used on the Apple product line and on touch screens everywhere. When presented to Steve Jobs iCorp was told that Apple did not need graphics or pointing devices it had CHARACTER Graphics! I guess Steve J. decided he liked both pointing devices, graphics and naming things with little "i"s after all or so it certainly seems.

The thing that makes me grin is that in all the accounts of the day the two Steves are described as Hippies, but I'm the one working (in the Hawaiian shirt and shorts) and he's in a suit ... I bet he didn't see this coming back in 1975 :-)

OK Max, this is getting a little "foodie". If you're not careful you'll end up looking more like the Woz too... :-)
