Panasonic simply couldn't let go of Plasma technology and spent huge sums on it to maintain the product line when all others has given up but I have to admit that it was more of LCD blitzkrieg than best of the two which swung the tide in LCD favour. Panasonic is a very well know brand associated with electronics and home appliances and they are only to blame if they are not able to exploit that brand potential. Sony is, well, sick and has been so for a long time now..

Unfortunately, these changes are too slow and too small. Japan needs a true visionary leader, someone of Bill Gate, Larry Ellison, or Steve Job calibre or that of the original Sony founder to lead the change. Slow and small changes simply prolong the eventual death or put them into non-relevancy in the new world economy.

I think we are all thrilled to discover a new generation of Japanese CEOs -- who seem to be less tongue-tied, and open-minded. Definitely, there are some promising signs...Let's hope what true "decisiveness" these executives can bring to their respective companies -- with true "speed"!
