Oh, so true -- I cannot count the number of times I've gone to someone and asked "do you have..." and they've replied "we threw a bunch of them out yesterday" (or words to that effect)

ROBIN: Holy gastronomical delights of battered goo Batman ... I think the Riddler was getting ready to beat us with those. BATMAN: Yes Robin, it appears that he was trying to whip us into a calorie induced mayhem but we've managed to add our own mix to the recipe ... To the Bat-Kitchen

I'm thinking that this must be related to an effect I observed recently in our Kitchen. I poured a bowl of cereal and went to get a spoon, only to find that we had 247 forks but not a single spoon of any description. A couple of days later I ws going to spread some butter on a slice of toast, but when I reached for a knife I found that we had about 150 spoons, but no knives. My theory is that some sort of transmutation is taking place. I plan on attaching a vibration sensor to the bottom of the silverware drawer and connecting it to a data logger. The next time this happens I'll look and see if perhaps there is some unexplained vibration in the middle of the night as all the spoons mutate into knives or vice versa. I'm thinking this may be what is happening to your whisks. You might also try counting the total number of the items in the drawer and the next time you find that you have too many whisks, you could check to see of the whisk/ladle ratio has changed. This could also be an indication of transmutation.
