So many are released so frequently that it would be hard to keep an accurate list! Someone might have something like that though.

Anyone know of a guide to all the MCU evaluation boards introduced so far this year? That would be a perfect resource for an engineer starting a new design. Anyone?

Rick-

Typically open source hardware can provide a good starting point for your own design. Distributors have been providing full schematics and bill of materials for their evaluation boards so you will design in the parts they distribute. For them, the role of open source hardware is to generate more sales!

Open source hardware is hardware whose design is made publicly available so that anyone can study, modify, distribute, make, and sell the design or hardware based on that design.

Again, this one specifically hasn't come out yet, so there aren't examples of projects being done with it.

I'm not sure I understand your question about the "role" of open source hardware. could you elaborate?

I'd love to hear comments about how people use this stuff. What's the role for open source hardware, anyway?
