This would pair really well with a 3 wolf moon shirt variant:  http://tctechcrunch2011.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/zoom.gif?w=620&h=564

You're halfway there. You could just buy one of those LED rings and 3d print your own enclosure!

Long time Mac OS dev here. (1984)

>Any time your computer is "thinking," you get that stupid beachball on your screen

This is not correct.

You get the spinning beach ball in an application that was poorly written and doesn't return time to the main UI thread.

It's easy to write an app properly that never has the beachball, yet does insanely complex calculations or "thinking".

You tend to see the beachball in 'ports' from other OSes, by developers who don't care.

That being said, EXCELLENT WORK!

I love blinky things like this!  So what are you going to do at Maker Faire? Carry an auxiliary battery pack in your knapsack?

hopefully I'll be getting lots of really great pictures and talking to some really cool people! I am powering this off of 3xAAA batteries right now. The battery pack isn't too bad. Someone pointed out that I could have probably run this sucker for about a half hour off of those cr2032 button cells if I just skipped the on-board voltage regulator.
