Industrial security policy upgrades are in the works, and WiFi infrastructure is moving from the crowded 2.4 GHz to the 5 GHz band for greater flexibility and reliability. Within physically rugged yet often vulnerable industrial networks, where mission-critical wireless M2M apps reside, robust authentication and encryption are a must.
AirborneM2M WiFi by B&B Electronics addresses the enterprise-class security realm where processor-intensive advanced encryption is a far cry from everyday WiFi. Features of AirborneM2M include:

The new AirborneM2M 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi platform provides a means for OEMs, VARs, and integrators to minimize obsolescence with security upgrades and movement to the 5 GHz band.
Specifically addressing the expanding area of rugged applications that require Ethernet connectivity and wireless mobility, including transportation vehicles, mobile printers, and medical, Airborne M2M is offered in multiple forms.
Industrial WiFi Access Points (APXN) and WiFi Clients (ABDN), as well as embeddable Access Point (APMN) and Client (WLNN) modules are available. With APXN and ABDN, seamless connectivity with Ethernet bridges, Ethernet routers, and serial servers to RS-232, 422, 485, Ethernet 10/100M, and I/O equipment is available. 5-36VDC and 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) are power options.
On the embeddable front, APMN and WLNN modules are plug compatible with previous-generation modules from B&B, eliminating upgrade time and expense. A Design and Development kit is available to help initiate use. Included is the B&B Airborne Management Center (AMC) device discovery, control, and management application software.
