Interesting point, but we're talking about 100's or 1000's of FLOP's per tile which we avoid if the tile isn't visible. FLOP's chew through a lot of CPU/GPU cycles and therefore power where as I'd imagine it was mostly integer math to determine visibility and only the need to 3 corner points (if they're triangular polygon tiles)

While it seems nice and simple, doesn't it introduce a bit of latency? I could imagine this having issues whith extremely intense and dynamic loads.

When you think about it, this tiled rendering is really just common sense that has been obscured by complicated thinking. Still my hat's of to them for focusing on KISS again :-)
