If you've seen an LED cube, you've only seen half the fun. In this picture series you can follow along with the construction!
Being a typical modern-day primate, I simply love shiny blinky things. Of the more enjoyable shiny blinky things available right now is the simple LED. Any time you can combine a bunch of LEDs simply for a shiny blinky effect, you've won me over. I was particularly pleased to see, not only LEDs in abundance in this cube project, but also some very nice wiring!
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Reddit user Kinsi55 was only 15 when he made this LED cube and only spent around 30€.
"Initial layout idea, which I decided to keep later on."
"Since the connector that I've been using had offset pins on it, I kinda had to cheat it onto the perfboard."
"All this crap, had to actually break open the connector to get out some metal bracket that was bridging tons of pins -- why was that even there? Also, took me ages to find out what pins belong to what cables."
