I just saw the most amazing thing. I donít know how to describe it. Have you ever seen a drill team from the Army or Marines marching around? Well, it was just like that, but different. This involved a herd of guys wearing business suits performing a sort of precision walking display. Here's the YouTube video:
If you are short of time, race through to around the 1 minute 50 second mark and watch the next 20 seconds... after which I am convinced you will return to the beginning and watch the entire thing from start to finish.
This started me thinking (be afraid, be very afraid). Are you planning on attending the EE Live! Conference and Exhibition in San Jose, Calif., March 31 to April 3, 2014? I'm going to be there, happily chattering away, scampering around meeting people, and generally having a jolly good time, not the least because I believe they are going to have the bacon chef back again. (See Meet a bacon chef at Design West 2013 and Max is on the bacon train Ö and itís not slowing down.)
But we digress... I started to think that it might be fun to do something like this ourselves. Nothing as sophisticated as what we see in the above video of course -- we would restrain ourselves to just a few simple routines. We could book a large room, spend, say, 30 minutes practicing (I'd have the choreography planned ahead of time), then get someone to video us performing our masterpiece to share with the world, followed by cold beers for all.
Ideally we should have some sort of "uniform." I donít know if there's going to be an official EE Live! 2014 T-Shirt, but if so we could all wear that. As an alternative, might I humbly suggest we all wear brightly colored Hawaiian shirts, because these look cool and cannot fail to put everyone in a happy mood? (The advantage here, of course, is that I'm already in uniform.) Oh well, let's not worry about these nitty-gritty details now. The main question is that, if I can persuade the conference organizers to provide us with a room and cold beer, will you join me (I'd look a tad silly parading around on my own)?
