@95131: I'm all in.

Cool Beans -- do you already have a Hawaiian shirt? If we get at least 12 people saying they are interested (that gives us a "squad" of 3 x 4) then I'll approach the conference organizers about getting a room.

I'm sure we will be magnificent -- I believe it gets easier the more beers one drinks -- I'll start practicing this evening when I get home (drinking beer, not precision walking ... that would be silly on my own)

Who? I don't recall seeing that user name here on EE Times -- is he a friend of yours?

@Sylvie...you don't have to be crazy to come to EEtimes, but it sure helps :-)

Enjoy the holidays and hopefully we might meet at EELive in 2014

@Max......Still not sure I am going to make it, but I will happily make a fool of myself if there's beer at the end.

I did drill when I was a conscript in the Rhodesian police about 40 years ago.  They taught us (or tried to teach us) the movements by numbers - a bit like dancing.  Our first drill instructor nearly gave up at one stage - we were totally uncoordinated.  "You guys sound like a herd of buffalos crapping on the tarmac!" he shouted at us at one point.  We did get better, slowly.

Later I frustrated our instructor by persistently mixing up my left and right.  "Squad, Right Wheel!" he would command, and I would peel off to the left.  Once he came and bellowed at me from the side - I of course had to keep a straight face and look straight ahead.   I don't know why, but I started laughing.   I thought I was dead (or at least condemned to a month of midnight guard duties) but the instructor started chuckling as well.  He muttered some more profanities at me and went back to the head of the squad.  It was a lucky escape and I tried really hard after that.  I met him years later (he had since turned into a human being) and he remembered it well, and chuckled again.

So you take me as part of your team at your own risk.....  :-)

Don;t you dare say that -- I'm counting on seeing you "in the flesh" and buying you a few beers in thanks for all the electronic projects I've messed up and you've sorted out for me.

Hopefully there will also be beer at the beginning to get us loosened up -- my interpretation of "stretching exercises" LOL

I'd like to see some basic sequential logic circuits acted out.  I'd like to see (1) binary counter, (2) binary counter with bits reversed, (3) Johnson counter (forward and reverse), and (4) Gray code counter.  You might try an LFSR -- except that it would end up being really random instead of just pseudo.

I don't know how much one can do with 30 minutes of drill.  Even the drill in Stripes (1981) took all night to train, and they'd already had some experience.  You're more likely to reenact the drill scene in Privates on Parade (1983).

That's a pretty cool idea -- OK, you are in charge of the choreography.

They make it look pretty easy in the video (LOL). If we actually get something written down, folks could practice at home (to the consternation of their loved ones) ahead of time.

I'm not thinking of a major production here -- just a 30-second sequence of fun :-)

I think this is going to be really funny... have you noticed that all that Japanese boys look exactly the same? -- same height, weight...

I don't know the other candidates for the show, but I'm "just" 1'90 meters tall and over 100Kg -- >6ft, >220lb -- so I'm afraid that I would need a lot of free space around me LOL

You should create a 3D version. Then you can use the software from your Arduino LED cube. Shouldn't any software person be able to read the code and instinctively know where to go. Right?

As for me, I took a line dancing class once. The carnage was legendary. I turned the wrong way so many times and ran people over so many times that the instructor had to call in the National Guard to get me out and bandage up all of the kicked ankles. I think I'm banned for life from ever again attempting anything that requires actual physical coordination.

In that case you can be the one at the front scampering around throwing the big batton thingy into the air and leading the parade.
