Auto-grade certification for SoCs

NO RATINGS
As I wrote in my previous article ( http://www.eetimes.com/document.asp?doc_id=1320824 ), "auto-grade" comes in different levels, depending on where in a car chips are used.

Talking to Qualcomm executive recently, though, I realized that we are now entering a whole new world where a host of new challenges exist: how do you certify an infotainment SoC auto grade, at a time when more and more blocks are inegrated into the apps processor SoC? Higher and higher integration was the name of the game for any SoCs in the consumer market, but it probably isn't the case for infotainment SoCs in automotive applications.
